How to prepare for a casting
From reading the call to walking out of the room: what to do to leave the best impression.
A casting is a short chance to introduce yourself to the selection team, and it rarely lasts more than a few minutes. That is why good preparation makes such a difference.
Before the day
- Read the whole casting description and understand the role and the brand.
- Choose simple clothes that hint at the campaign's style without overdoing it.
- Have your digitals ready on your phone or printed.
- Double-check the address, the arrival time and how long the journey takes.
In the room
Walk in confidently, greet everyone and introduce yourself briefly: your name, your city and any experience you have. Listen carefully to direction, and do not hesitate to ask if something is unclear.
We remember the people who were kind and prepared more than the ones who were the best-looking.
After the casting
Do not chase the team with repeated messages. If you have not heard back within the time stated in the call, treat it as useful practice and move on to the next opportunity.
You are always welcome to bring a companion to a casting, and you have every right to turn down one held somewhere unprofessional.
