On-set etiquette: how professionals behave on shoot day
Reliability, respect and team spirit build your reputation as much as your photos do.
Word travels fast in this industry. Photographers and coordinators talk to each other, and talent who are easy to work with get recommended again and again.
Rules to remember
- Arrive at least fifteen minutes before your call time.
- Put your phone on silent and keep it away during shooting.
- Do not post any photo or clip from set without the client's approval.
- Treat everyone on the team with the same respect.
- Look after the outfits and accessories as if they were your own.
When something goes wrong
If you are running late because of an emergency, tell the coordinator immediately. If you are not comfortable with an outfit or a request, say so calmly and politely, and suggest an alternative if you can. Courteous honesty is always respected.
The best thing you can hear at the end of the day: ‘We would love to work with you again.’
When the job is done, thank the team, ask for a review on ModelGo and make sure to review the client in return.
