Getting started in modeling: your first-month plan
Practical, step-by-step actions to help you start with confidence, from creating your profile to your first casting application.
Getting into modeling does not take special connections or a big budget, just a clear plan and patience. Here is a suggested plan for your first four weeks.
Week one: know yourself
Decide which kind of work suits you: fashion, commercials, digital content or events. Record your measurements accurately, and think about the boundaries you want to keep when it comes to outfits and content.
Week two: set up your profile
- Create your ModelGo account and fill in every field.
- Take your digitals in daylight against a plain background.
- Write a short, honest bio about yourself, your experience and your interests.
Week three: learn and practise
Watch the ModelGo Academy lessons, practise basic poses and expressions in front of a mirror, and ask a friend to film you on a phone so you can see what needs work.
Week four: apply for your first opportunity
Pick two or three casting calls that fit your current level and read the details carefully before applying. Do not worry if you are not chosen at first; every application is something to learn from.
If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must create and manage your account, approve every booking and accompany you on shoot days.
